Consequently, the tragedy of September 11th inspired the creation of a partnership badgebetween U.S. Customs and businesses to ensure national security and to help guarantee the safety of our supply chain. The C-TPAT program is on a voluntary basis, and any information that is needed on how to become certified is available through our Customs consultant.
By becoming a certified member of C-TPAT, you can experience the benefits, such as:
• A decrease in cargo examination (Statistics show that 1 in 6 containers will be subject to inspection if you are not part of the C-TPAT program, versus 1 in 47.) On average this could save an importer over $500 per container, plus can save days in the supply chain.
• Access to the U.S. Customs database, including membership lists
• Assigned personal Customs supervisor for your company to assess and make any improvements that are needed to security on a continuous basis.
These are just a few of the benefits that C-TPAT has to offer to those who become part of the “family” to protect and honor our supply chain. H.W. St. John & Company is certified in the C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) program.
